What countries block Facebook ?

What countries block facebook ? I’m going to China soon, and I want to make sure I can keep in contact with my family while abroad
From certain countries it’s not possible to visit Facebook.com. Here is the list as of 14/2/2013.
- Bangladesh
- People’s Republic of China*
- Iran
- Pakistan
Syria*- Uzbekistan
- Vietnam
*Note :
- China : This does not including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao where you will be able to visit facebook.
- Syria : From time the government has blocked facebook.
Why is facebook blocked ?
Generally this is done by decree of the government. In 2011, the so called Arab Spring, was for the most part, organised and co-ordinated on Facebook. For this reason the government in Egypt severed all internet connection with the outside world, in an effort to hinder people from using such services.
By having a VPN before you go on holidays you can insure that you can access the same websites that you can at home. It’s generally advisable to setup and configure your system before you leave home to avoid disappointment.
